It hurts for me to say this. But I gotta speak up too. Shaming and guilting a culture you are not entirely familiar with even if it’s part of your identity, is another form of colonization issues. We don’t live by, we don’t identify with a lot of mainland beliefs. And a lot of mainlanders do not want to believe or see it….just bc they spent some summers on the island. I was born, raised, 30 years. I won’t be silenced. I’m not saying there aren’t wrong things, bc yes. But no one gets to come in, and fkin shame us and think they know more than us that lived the struggles, d news, d life. Right now are battles are against gentrification & having a Puerto Rico without Puertoricans. ✌️

Many people will not understand d sacrifice, the extra grit it takes to do the hard thing when you have medical conditions that you feel limit you. Do the hard thing anyway. Some have memory issues especially after anesthesia, and well, no matter the treatment plan I follow, the hot & cold here drives me nuts, let’s sprinke in Perimenopause!! 😂 What works for some, may not work for others and that is ok. Don’t give up on your journey. 💗✨

Recently I’ve started listening to myself as I reactivated my self love journey. I realized I was telling too many people my ideas, plans, and I can’t always do that bc people
can’t see the big picture like I do. It’s not bad, we are just different. Had I let those same words from different people get to me 10 years ago, I wouldn’t be a doctor today, I wouldn’t know & do half the stuff I do now. I’m always learning, always doing.

And that’s me. Overwhelmed and all. Maybe it’s time to stop listening, stop talking and just do….just show up, stop complaining, stop waiting, stop playing victim, stop self sabotaging, stop waiting for permission. Move quietly but stealthy.

I watered myself down when I moved stateside. HARDER than back home. I have NO community. I have NO safe spaces. But This is my Manifesto now. I’m not doing too much. I know I’m not. I know and have felt what that looks like. Just not aligned.

Like Benito said, you have to believe & value yourself and honestly, let myself be seen. Welcome to my next chapter.
